For the first time, there will be a separate exhibition sector »World of Quantum« at the LASER »World of Photonics« fair. At booth A4.180, we will be presenting our latest research results on measurement methods and applications in quantum sensing.
Infrared spectroscopy can be used to analyze materials and their composition. At Fraunhofer IPM, we conduct research into the use of interference effects of correlated photon pairs for infrared spectroscopy with »undetected photons«. The Q-FTIR spectrometer combines these quantum effects with the principle of classical Fourier transform spectroscopy, enabling precise, high-resolution spectroscopy at low light powers on the sample.
Optically pumped magnetometers offer a fascinating new way of measuring extremely weak magnetic fields. Fraunhofer IPM is using this technology, which has now been commercialized, to develop innovative measurement methods for industrial process monitoring and materials testing:
»Looking into the pipe«: The magnetometers provide new possibilities for non-contact monitoring of fluents in steel pipes in accordance with the requirements of the process industry.
»Detecting cracks before they grow«: Using highly sensitive quantum magnetometers, we measure the magnetic fingerprints caused by material defects.
At the Fraunhofer booth, we will be presenting our product and service range in the area of lasers and spectroscopy.
At LASER, we will present our comprehensive value chain for »wavelengths made to measure« – from periodically poled crystals, high quality nonlinear optical microresonators and converter modules to turnkey light sources. Important features for users are: continuous wave operation, single-frequency, tunable, for wavelengths from UV to MIR.
Infrared laser spectroscopy is well a established technique for analyzing gases, tracing toxic, environmentally harmful or other kinds of impurities. Photothermal spectroscopy allows us to determine very small gas concentrations without the need for a long optical path or a large sample volumen.
This means: »parts per billion in microliters«.
