At the joint Fraunhofer stand at the World of QUANTUM, we will be presenting our latest research results on measurement methods and applications in quantum sensing.
Infrared spectroscopy can be used to analyze materials and their composition. At Fraunhofer IPM, we conduct research into the use of interference effects of correlated photon pairs for infrared spectroscopy with "undetected photons." The Q-FTIR spectrometer combines these quantum effects with the principle of classical Fourier transform spectroscopy, enabling precise, high-resolution spectroscopy at low light powers on the sample.
Optically pumped magnetometers offer a fascinating new way of measuring extremely weak magnetic fields. Fraunhofer IPM is using this technology, which has now been commercialized, to develop innovative measurement methods for industrial process monitoring and materials testing:
"Looking into the pipe": The magnetometers provide new possibilities for non-contact monitoring of fluents in steel pipes in accordance with the requirements of the process industry.
"Detecting cracks before they grow": Using highly sensitive quantum magnetometers, we measure the magnetic fingerprints caused by material defects.
"Ready to fly?": Small satellites like cubesats represent a new phase of space travel. Measuring the "magnetic cleanliness" of these satellites helps to ensure stable trajectories in low-earth orbits.
At the Fraunhofer booth, we will be presenting our product and service range in the area of lasers.
At LASER, we will present our comprehensive value chain for "wavelengths made to measure" – from periodically poled crystals, high quality nonlinear optical microresonators and converter modules to turnkey light sources. Important features for users are: continuous wave operation, single-frequency, tunable, for wavelengths from UV to MIR.
Periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystals are key components of many nonlinear-optical frequency converters, ranging from the visible spectral range up to the THz-range. Fraunhofer IPM has developed a maskless poling technique, which combines short turnaround times, full flexibility in poling-pattern design with high quality poling results.
