How to reach us
By car
Please note that it is not possible to access Georges-Köhler-Allee via the Faculty of Engineering campus. You can reach us via the following roads:
From the North
- From Paduaalle / Granadaallee turn into Suwonallee,
- Turn right after 450 meters (after the stadium) at the second possible opportunity into Achim-Stocker-Straße,
- After about 150 meters turn left in front of the Fraunhofer IPM building,
- Drive alongside the building almost to the end,
- Turn right at the main entrance, the guest parking spaces are now on your right.
From the South
- From Berliner Allee / Madisonallee turn left into Suwonallee,
- Turn left at the first possible opportunity into Achim-Stocker-Straße,
- After about 150 meters turn left in front of the building,
- Drive alongside the building almost to the end,
- Turn right at the main entrance, the guest parking spaces are now on your right.
By train
From Freiburg Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) you can reach Fraunhofer IPM either by Breisach S-Bahn (suburban railway) or by tram.
S-Bahn
From Freiburg Central Station, take the S1 S-Bahn towards Breisach from track 6. Get off at "Freiburg Messe/Universität" (the second stop, a five-minute ride). Cross the Technical Faculty's campus until you reach Georges-Köhler-Allee, which is about a 10-minute walk from the institute.
Tram
Take tram line No. 4 towards "Messe" from Central Station. The tram stop is located on the bridge that crosses the railway tracks. Get off at the seventh stop, "Technische Fakultät," after about nine minutes. Cross the Technical Faculty's campus until you reach Georges-Köhler-Allee, which is about a 10-minute walk away.
PLEASE NOTE: The stop »Europa-Park Stadion« is only served on outbound trips when SC Freiburg plays a first-division home game. Therefore, please always exit at the »Technische Fakultät« when traveling to Fraunhofer IPM.
By plane
It's about an hour's drive from Basel Airport to Fraunhofer IPM. There is an hourly shuttle service to Freiburg Central Station. From there, you can take the Breisach S-Bahn (suburban railway) or a tram.
