The Mobile Urban Mapping System (MUM) is a modular system platform that allows numerous sensors to be integrated and flexibly arranged: In addition to sensors for collecting spatial data on the road environment, measurement technology for road condition assessment (transverse evenness/longitudinal evenness/structural characteristics) can be integrated in accordance with BASt (German Federal Highway and Transport Research Institute) requirements:

  • Cameras with up to 65 MP
  • Panoramic cameras
  • Fraunhofer IPM’s high-end LiDAR sensors (CPS(+), MPS) or commercially available LiDAR sensors (e. g. Hesai)
  • Thermal imaging camera
  • Ground penetrating radar
  • HRM beam for longitudinal evenness measurement
  • Fraunhofer IPM’s PPS for transverse evenness measurement
  • Cameras plus LED lighting for high-resolution surface images (structural features)

Professional installation inside the vehicle

The vehicle's onboard system configuration consists of a single PC with SSDs in a removable frame. This setup allows for easy storage replacement and continuous operation over long periods of time.

Control software including tablet PC and UI

Our miDAS control software provides a clear overview of the entire system, allowing you to keep track of the measurement.

Calibration

All sensors are calibrated using high-precision reference systems. This enables perfect data fusion of 3D and 2D measurement data.

Post-processing
& data analysis

The MUM post-processing software comprises data processing and analysis. Our AI pipeline semantically enhances data, enabling automated object recognition.
