TVöD is the German collective bargaining agreement for the public service. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft acts in compliance with the regulations set out in this agreement with regard to employment, remuneration and social security benefits. All contracts and salary grades are based on the TVöD. It guarantees equal and fair remuneration for all employees based on their level of experience and area of work.
We additionally offer our employees performance-based bonuses and an inventor's remuneration.
We do not have set core working hours. Part-time and individual working time models are possible. Furthermore, all employees have the opportunity to work from home, regardless of their career level. This helps our employees to balance their private lives with their careers.

Our institute is located on the campus of the University of Freiburg's Faculty of Engineering. Thanks to our close proximity to the university and other Fraunhofer institutes in Freiburg, we are able to engage in collaborations. Inaugurated in 2020, our building houses state-of-the-art laboratories and excellent research equipment.
The in-house canteen offers a daily changing menu of freshly cooked meals, always including a vegetarian option.
There is ample parking for cars and bicycles on our premises. You can also charge electric vehicles.
Our institute is a member of Hansefit, a health program provider for companies. The Fraunhofer Institutes in Freiburg also offer a variety of sports programs. We promote the health and mobility of our employees by providing height-adjustable desks. Our company doctor addresses employees' health concerns.
Employees in the public sector are eligible for a company pension plan (Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder, VBL).
Both the RegioKarte Job and the Deutschland-Ticket Job are subsidized by us, allowing us to take a relaxed approach to commuting.
As an applied research institute, we have strong ties with regional universities. Our collaboration with the University of Freiburg is particularly fruitful, not only because of our proximity to the Faculty of Engineering campus but also because of our shared values and goals. Our collaboration with the University of Freiburg is also exemplified by the Sustainability Center, a joint project between the university and the Fraunhofer Institutes in Freiburg.
Fraunhofer IPM has excellent ties to the University of Freiburg thanks to its four affiliated university professorships. We are in direct contact with basic research and have access to the latest results. This benefits not only our customers but also students and doctoral candidates, who can work and learn at the intersection of academia and industry.

Researchers at Fraunhofer IPM teach in the following master's programs at the University of Freiburg's Faculty of Engineering: Microsystems Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering, Sustainable Systems Engineering, and Applied Physics.
We offer students many opportunities to work with us. They can work as student assistants or write their bachelor's or master's theses with us. These different positions allow them to gain insight into the world of applied research and build their professional network.
At Fraunhofer IPM, doctoral candidates are actively involved in the institute's work. They join a research group and take on challenging tasks in applied and industry-related research projects or work on fundamental research questions.
