Fraunhofer covers the entire optical 3D object detection process chain. We offer custom-made, high-end measuring systems for 3D data acquisition, as well as installation and maintenance services. We also provide software for the automated interpretation of 3D measurement data, as well as software for interactive and intuitive data visualization.

Our laser scanners, lighting, and camera systems measure the three-dimensional geometry of objects and large structures with high precision. Most of our systems are based on the time-of-flight measurement principle. Combined with a scanning unit, they quickly and precisely capture three-dimensional object geometries from the centimeter to the 100-meter range. Our robust, eye-safe systems are designed for use on mobile platforms, such as measuring trains, vehicles for road surface measurement, submarine vehicles, and UAVs.

Our 3D measurement systems include software for data analysis. To efficiently evaluate 3D data, we rely on adaptive algorithms that automate the interpretation of measurement data.
