Gas sensitive colorimetric coatings deposited on QR-codes can be analyzed via smartphone.

Together with industrial partners, we have developed a smartphone-based sensor system in the SnapGas project that reliably detects toxic gases. The gases are determined quickly and selectively by means of colorimetric indicators. The sensor is constructed as a gas-sensitive label using an inkjet printing process. The reading of the gas-dependent color change is executed camera-based, e.g. via smartphone. This allows, for example, a cost-effective and immediate human protection for the chemical and petrochemical industry.
