Professorship for Monitoring of Large-scale Structures

Institute of Sustainable Systems Engineering INATECH, University of Freiburg

The main focus in research and teaching is on the inspection and monitoring of man-made and natural objects, such as engineering works (e.g. bridges, tunnels), geological formations (e.g. unstable slopes, rockfalls) or large areas of vegetation (z. B. agricultural land, woodland). This involves the development and realization of novel sensor concepts. Strategies for data acquisition and interpretation are within the scope of research activities, taking into account influencing factors such as wind or temperature and measured deformations. The development and realization of complete system chains, from system design to data acquisition and data interpretation.

Head of Professorship is Prof Dr Alexander Reiterer, also Head of Department »Object- and Shape Detection« at Fraunhofer IPM.
